Realization of a creative path within the educational and art education center for minors in Pietralata (Rome).
THE PROJECT IN DETAIL
Objectives
To develop individual artistic-creative talent and appreciation of one’s territory by giving value to it from an esthetic point of view; to develop group relational competencies.
Beneficiairies
Approximately 40 minors between the ages of 11 and 17 living in fragile conditions and at risk of marginalization, among whom: adolescents at high risk of marginalization and dropping out of school; unaccompanied foreign minors and people at shelters; youths with light cognitive disabilities.
Activities
The “RI-CREA” project entails the realization of creative activities in Pietralata in collaboration with the scholastic institutes in the area and as part of the education and art-education center for minors operating inside the Campo Sportivo XXV Aprile, an historic structure in the neighborhood that has been promoting social inclusion, respect and the valorization of differences since 2007.
In 2026 the creative activities begun in previous years continue, this year opening the workshops also to youths with light cognitive disabilities in collaboration with the Neuro Infantile department of the IV Municipio. As in previous years, by providing more functional artistic workshops (art/murals and photography), the aim is to contrast educational poverty and social exclusion in the territory, guaranteeing access to educational activities that foster the development of technical competencies, increase self knowledge and individual self expression for self determination, and the full development of personality, also improving individual relational skills, thus contributing to the formation of informed citizens.
One of the main innovations in this edition is derived from the evolution of the photography workshop with a new direction that enables the youths to learn the primary techniques of video making as a form of intimate and powerful expression. The participants create group video stories documenting the RI-CREA process: a mosaic of expression, emotion and personal reflection. Finally, two events will be held to give back to the territory, during which the work produced in the workshops will be exhibited.
In 2022, the project was carried out with the partner Sanità di Frontiera.
