This project takes place in the Sanità neighborhood of Naples with the aim of bringing back to this neighborhood, thanks to the urban renewal of two slums confiscated from the camorra, a welcoming place, returning this area to the citizens through a series of free socio-cultural services for children and those living here.
The project foresees the realization of a free acting class for children and adolescents between the ages of 8 and 18, as well as a class in scenic design dedicated to this same age group. Both courses would be held weekly, fostering productive energy and change aiming at the spread of beauty in its widest sense with the aim of providing the inhabitants of this quarter various opportunities.
In the acting class, inspired by the concept of theater games, youths will be guided in reaching certain objectives, such as: the discovery of one’s own body, the creation of a group, relationships on and off stage, choral activities, a relationship with music and, above all, the stimulation of one’s imagination. This work becomes the foundation for a dialogue with parents and, therefore, with the community. The learning plan leans towards the creation and writing of ‘A voce d’’o vico”, a final performance staged by the course participants.
The scenic design class is composed of three distinct phases: the history of scenic design, manual skills and, finally, the creation of objects for the stage and painting on canvas. The ultimate aim is to introduce the youths to a little known artistic profession.
Putèca Celidònia aims to offer various opportunities to the families of this quarter, alternatives to the street and work that often does not correspond to their identity via a proper, transversal cultural center with its own specific sustainability.
