Workshops in acting and scenic design to fight scholastic poverty via the power of culture and a sense of community for children and adolescents.
THE PROJECT IN DETAIL
Objectives
Promote the relational, emotional and cognitive growth of the inhabitants of the Sanità quarter of Naples;
Bring art and culture to a vulnerable neighborhood.
Beneficiairies
Approximately 40 children and youths between the ages of 6 and 18, young adults (acting class), and 10 adolescents (scenic design class), many of whom risk marginalization and social exclusion in the Sanità quarter of Naples.
Activities
This project takes place in the Sanità neighborhood of Naples with the aim of bringing back to this neighborhood, thanks to the urban renewal of two slums confiscated from the camorra, a welcoming place, returning this area to the citizens through a series of free socio-cultural services for children and those living here.
In 2026 the project will evolve significantly by reinforcing the collective dimension and also by including young adults over 18 in a structured manner in an acting course alongside a course in scenic design dedicated to adolescents, both held weekly. The two courses do not proceed in parallel but are in constant dialogue with each other via a more autonomous and integrated collaboration between the participants who, after years of training, take on greater creative responsibility in scenic writing, dramatic composition and scenic design. The aim is not only educational but also involves the community in the construction of a youth workshop company that can unite language and diverse competencies in a collective experience. The theme of metamorphosis runs through the project as a symbol of the growth of the participants, the transformation of the Association and the continuation of the considerations garnered in previous years regarding unjust death and the theme of war.
This development hinges on the work carried out in 2025 when the project laid the foundations through weekly classes in acting and scenic design aimed at children and adolescents, fostering creative, relational and community growth and culminating in giving back publicly to those working in the territory.
