THE PROJECT IN SUMMARY
The realization of territorial educational art workshops at the “Cantiere Urbano per il Bene comune a Napoli Orientale – CUBO”.
THE PROJECT IN DETAIL
To develop transversal abilities and reflective capacities, promote activities that foster community and human ties and solidarity; the promotion in the territory of the capacity to design and implement educational activities as well as the development of specific artistic-expressive skills.
60-80 vulnerable, marginalized children and adolescents that have dropped out of school and are at great risk of becoming absorbed into criminal activities; a public of at least 200-300 people for the territorial animation events and final performances.
The project foresees the realization of 4 educational art workshops (Music for a total of 400 hours, Theatre for a total of 400 hours, Visual arts for a total of 300 hours and Dance, for a total of 100 hours) at the CUBO, an educational facility that has been abandoned for years and is now undergoing important restoration and upgrading.
The artistic workshops provided by the Maestri di Strada for several years (from 2019 at the CUBO) stimulate the participants to confront themes and material based on their own experience, enabling them to rediscover and use resources, desires and dreams. In this way, the participants became actors in the production of culture, knowledge, self- and group identity, thus becoming a Community.
The workshops end with the performing of artistic shows on themes connected to stories, traditions and realities in the South and the Mediterranean Basin seen through the lens of the experiences and dreams of the youths: a play and a dance accompanied by percussion instruments. A concert and an exhibition of graphic, pictorial art will debut in the historic centre of Naples, with the participation of the Teatro Bellini and the Accademia di Belle Arti, in prime locations of the VI municipality: Centro Ciro Colonna, the Pietrarsa National Museum and the gardens of the Engineering department of San Giovanni.
