The OrK-Est project continues the work of Art-Est, which began in 2022 with AMI support, centering since 2023 on music. The project benefits from the research, experimentation and experience obtained in the context of the art-education that the territorial heads of Maestri di Strada have developed over the last 12 years, and aims at offering youths in the territory a real School of Music at the “Ciro Colonna” Multi-Purpose Center in order to create a youth orchestra made up of strings, wind instruments and percussion, as well as voice and pop music.
In detail, the project foresees the realization of two choral music courses (400 hours), three instrumental workshops (drums, guitar and piano, for a total of 300 hours) and a rap and music composition workshop (150 hours). The courses are taught by high-level music professionals, assisted by the specialized teachers of the Maestri di Strada, who have been working in the territory for ten years, and integrate the technical aspects of pedagogical care with the transversal competencies (life skills, soft skills) that are fundamental in the building of a group of effective study.
In 2022, the project carried out 4 art-education workshops (music – for a total of 400 hours, theater – for a total of 400 hours, visual arts – for a total of 300 hours and dance – for a total of 100 hours) at the Ciro Colonna center, an educational center that had been abandoned for years and is today undergoing significant renovation and renewal. The artistic workshops provided by Maestri di Strada stimulate the participants to confront themes and primary material starting with their own lives, allowing them to rediscover and pull on resources, desires and dreams. In this way, the participants become producers of culture, knowledge and shared identity, thus resulting in Community.
