THE PROJECT IN DETAIL

Beneficiairies
Approximately 40 children and adolescents who risk abandoning school and criminality.
Activities
The OrK-Est project continues the musical activities begun in 2022 with AMI support.
The project benefits from the research, experimentation and experience in art-education that the Maestri di Strada centers in the territory have developed in the last 12 years. It aims to offer youths in the territory a true Music School at the “Ciro Colonna” multipurpose center in order to build a neighborhood youth orchestra in its string, wind, percussion, voice and pop music sections.
In its fifth year, the project consolidates the workshops already underway, composed of group music and musical education workshops, instrumental workshops and rap, creative writing and music production workshops. Continuing with the positive results during 2025, the current workshops will be enhanced by once again offering a video making workshop dedicated to documenting the activities and creating audio-visual products, as well as introducing a space dedicated to the planning and organization of musical and artistic events in the territory, such as a mini-tour of schools or performances held in meeting places.
The courses are conducted by professional musicians along with the Maestri di Strada educators who integrated technical learning with pedagogical attention to transversal competencies. Through the artistic workshops the participants are stimulated to start with their own experience in order to re-discover personal resources, desires and aspirations, becoming producers of culture and contributing to the building of community.
