THE PROJECT IN DETAIL
Objectives
To develop transversal abilities and reflective capacities, promote activities that foster community and human ties and solidarity; the promotion in the territory of the capacity to design and implement educational activities as well as the development of specific artistic-expressive skills.
Beneficiairies
60-80 vulnerable, marginalized children and adolescents that have dropped out of school and are at great risk of becoming absorbed into criminal activities; a public of at least 200-300 people for the territorial animation events and final performances.
Activities
The OrK-Est project continues its Art-Est programme, begun in 2022 with AMI support. It aims to focus in 2023 on the language of music. Specifically, the project foresees the realization of an all-together Music Course (400 hours), with music workshop activities together with a rap workshop, a production workshop and an instrumental workshop (drums and piano). High-level professional musicians will be at the disposal of the young participants, such as the professors of the San Carlo Theatre and the San Pietro a Majella Conservatory in Naples, as well as the specialized educators of the Maestri di Strada (street teachers), who have been working in the territory for ten years integrating technical experience into a dimension of care – pedagogy in transversal competencies (life skills, soft skills) that are fundamental in the creation of an effective study group. Making good use of the applied Abreu methodology in teaching music, the project begins with practical experience as codified in the “El Sistema” Abreu, adapting it to the local context.
In 2022, the project undertook 4 art-education workshops (music, for a total of 400 hours; theatre, for a total of 400 hours; visual arts, for a total of 300 hours; and dance, for a total of 100 hours) at the Ciro Colonna centre – a scholastic building that was abandoned for years and is today undergoing important restoration and upgrading.
The workshops end with the performing of artistic shows on themes connected to stories, traditions and realities in the South and the Mediterranean Basin seen through the lens of the experiences and dreams of the youths: a play and a dance accompanied by percussion instruments. A concert and an exhibition of graphic, pictorial art will debut in the historic centre of Naples, with the participation of the Teatro Bellini and the Accademia di Belle Arti, in prime locations of the VI municipality: Centro Ciro Colonna, the Pietrarsa National Museum and the gardens of the Engineering department of San Giovanni
