Activities
The Symphony Orchestra of the Spanish Quarters offers to the young people of the area a musical training path via a model inspired by the “Abreu system” which brings together theoretical and practical training and uses cooperative and participatory methodologies. The instrument is provided free of charge to the students and the preparation is divided into two moments: orchestra rehearsals and individual rehearsals.
Along the musical training (technical-cognitive, imitative and creative-improvisational), AEMAS offers also socio-educational activities aimed at a group of beneficiaries identified as being at greater risk of exclusion or scholastic dispersion. Individual and group activities are proposed four afternoons a week alternating with support for study, educational game workshops and field visits. Alongside the already established Orchestra, since 2022 AEMAS activated a path of introduction to music for the little ones that brought to the constitution of a Junior Orchestra.
From 2023, the project also provides study/work grants for 9 young students who have been part of the orchestra for several years aimed at supporting part of the costs of their training (enrolment at the conservatory, purchase of musical instruments, etc. ) and to encourage a path to work in the artistic and musical field.
Furthermore, in 2024, AEMAS intends to stimulate the participation of the orchestra in high-quality performance events to highlight the talent of the boys and girls, to increase and diversify their experiences and to invest concretely in their future.
