THE PROJECT IN DETAIL
Objectives
To contrast the different forms of marginalization and increase social cohesion in the area.
To accompany the youths on a transformational and creative experience starting with the things that are part of their environment (such as the neighborhood) and their everyday lives.
To enable the participants to express and provide form to their own stories, to create ex novo and “throw away” what they feel or felt, giving them shape
Beneficiairies
Approximately 6 youths of the Villaluce (between the ages of 13 and 21) living in the community located in the quarter, and 6 youths who live in the Affori neighborhood between the ages of 16 and 21
Activities
The “Guardare oltre” (looking beyond) project, promoted by Meraki-desideri culturali (cultural desires) along with the Wild Art Project artistic collective and the Betania Onlus Group Association, aims to promote artistic activities for the youth in the Villaluce educational community and the young inhabitants of the Affori quarter on the outskirts of Milan. After an exploratory phase involving the local community, conducted by Meraki with particular attention to the participation of the children and adolescents in the quarter, the Wild Art Project will provide a cycle of artistic workshops for the youth at the Villaluce and those living in the Affori quarter using printing techniques, plaster casts and clay sculpture. The workshops deal with the theme of “tracks”, both as a metaphor for personal resilience and as a rediscovery of the territory and quarter of belonging; in fact, workshops are also held exploring the public spaces in the neighborhood and at the Villaluce for the youths living in the shelter.
The works created become part of an exhibit in the quarter as well as in places chosen by the participants to involve the participation of the local community
