The Reciprocity project foresees the realization of workshops on participatory practices, the presentation of performances, a round table and meetings in the context of Short Theatre, one of the most important and prestigious festivals in contemporary theatre in Italy.
In order to foster true social inclusion of disabled artists, Short Theatre provides accessibility to the places and contents of the festival and promotes the presence of disabled artists in the programming, making sure the interventions are fully integrated into the theatrical and esthetic format of the festival.
In 2023, the project includes two new workshops of participatory practices for people with different abilities: “Sotto il sotto del Bosco” (04-06/09/23), aimed at people with motor disabilities of different age groups on the relationship between movement, sound, word and space, held by Chiara Bersani, with presentation of the results “Sotto il sotto del Bosco” (07/09/23); and the workshop “Sound in space” (11-13/09/23) for blind children on accessibility in artistic practices held by Leonardo Zaccone and Giuseppe Silvi. At the same time, training meetings are held for a discussion on accessibility in the field of art with some members of Al.Di.Qua Artists and the staff of the Sant’Alessio Margherita di Savoia Regional Center for the Blind in Rome. The meetings are aimed at both the public and the festival staff.
In 2022 the project foresaw the realization of two workshops in participatory practices connected with body language and dance for mixed groups without experience or previous training, held by artists with disabilities (Giuseppe Comuniello – 18 and 19 July 2022; Marta Bellu and Laura Lucioli – 20, 21 and 22 July 2022), the organization of a meeting/round table on disability and social inclusion in the performing arts held by Al.Di.Qua Artists (9/9/2022) and the presentation of Ashes, by Muta Imago, a radiophonic performance liberally inspired by Chekhov’s Three Sisters, suitable for the blind and partially blind (11/9/2022). Simultaneous interpretation in LIS (Italian sign language) is foreseen for all activities.
