Now in its third edition, the project consists of a cycle of four artistic workshops held weekly with the aim of putting on a puppet show.
The reading and story-telling workshop (4 meetings of 2 hours each for a total of 8 hours) starts with the stories by Gianni Rodari, including interpretation, text analysis, identification of key figures in the stories and the stories’ messages.
In the workshop to build puppets (9 meetings of 2 hours each for a total of 18 hours), the children build the characters from the stories, along with the sets and various objects using recycled materials and employing different artistic techniques.
The music and singing workshop (8 meetings of 2 hours each for a total of 16 hours) involves games and experiments with voice and other instruments (percussions, guitar, wind instruments) to create original music and soundtrack for the show.
Finally, in the theatre workshop (8 meetings of 2 hours each for a total of 16 hours), the participants stage a puppet show, starting with improvisational theater techniques and ending with a structured performance for which the participants act as directors, choreographers, puppeteers and actors.
Along with the workshops, two guided visits are foreseen for the children to Mimmo Cuticchio’s Teatro dei Pupi and the International Antonio Pasqualino Museum of Marionettes, as well as a day of cleaning, gardening and maintenance of the grounds in preparation for the final event, which entails the staging of the final show and an exhibit of photographs taken during the workshops.
