Promote and increase well-being through empowerment and the deconstruction of the more common stereotypes defining the role of motherhood.
Indirectly promote improvement in the mother/child relationship as a consequence of an improvement in the general well-being of the participating women.
Offer space to elaborate and become aware of the mechanisms of domestic violence in the presence of children.
Beneficiairies
Approximately 10 women victims of violence involved in the Centro Antiviolenza (anti-violence center) managed by the Casa delle Donne.
Activities
Violence against women and children is a wide-spread, structural phenomenon and affects all social contexts, including all forms of violence: physical, psychological, economic, sexual and stalking, resulting in countless forms of damage, both physical and psychological, for the women who are affected or have been in the past. It is also important to consider the violence suffered by children, who often witness violence.
The project foresees the realization of a group activity to elaborate violence using the artistic tools and language of art therapy and music therapy, the objective being to confront trauma in a multidisciplinary fashion. Using artistic instruments, support group techniques and collective activities together provide a pathway for healing from the wounds received from violence in a holistic approach.
The group aims to reduce the sense of solitude and increase a sense of belonging in a new context in which every experience has value, nourishing others via a network of positive relationships where one’s experiences go beyond language as an element of expression.
At the end, the 10 women are supported to enroll in a Women’s Chorus in order to continue the work started on themselves using voice in a collective context to strengthen and solidify the ties begun during the group activities in a place outside of and different from the Anti-Violence Center, thus departing from a connotation of charity.
