THE PROJECT IN DETAIL
Objectives
Opening a youth center for youths living in a poor neighborhood affected by crime on the outskirts of Cagliari (Santa Teresa di Pirri) to give value to their lives and provide space for creativity. The project also aims to increase their self-esteem and relational skills by helping them discover their artistic potential.
Beneficiairies
Approximately 80 young at-risk people between the ages of 11 and 20 from the outskirts of the city and province of Cagliari.
Activities
ExMe’ is a youth center that Domus De Luna salvaged and refurbished in the ex-market of Pirri, previously used as a place for drug dealing. At the ExMe’ youths from the area have the opportunity to meet and grow through music, theater, cinema and art instead of hanging out in the streets. Artistic activities are proposed as a model of socialization and growth and an alternative to marginality, as a community tool and alternative to street life – the first step towards a new kind of integration.
Alta Mane Italia supports 5 artistic workshops: singing and karaoke, drawing, writing and creative recycling, percussions, dance, web and creativity, Photo-VideoTv (http://www.exme.tv) for at-risk children along with musical events and exchanges with other projects.
