THE PROJECT IN DETAIL
Objectives
Support to the second edition of the Circomondo Festival – children in the ring to change the world, dedicated to the theme of using the circus arts as an instrument of reinsertion of children and youth living in conditions of extreme marginalization.
Beneficiairies
18 youths from 6 social circuses in Italy (Rome and Naples), Afghanistan, Kenya, Brazil, Spain and Lebanon/Palestine; approximately 10 professionals from various countries; approximately 25 professionals that participate in seminars and debates; and the public and city of San Gimignano.
Activities
The 2015 Circomondo Festival organized in the city of San Gimignano, Tuscany, entails three days of circus performances, debates, seminars, docu-films, photographic exhibits, workshops and circus arts laboratories. The objective of the festival is to raise awareness and promote the rights of children and adolescents, particularly those living in conditions of severe social marginalization – a context in which the circus arts have proven to be a powerful instrument for social reinsertion in different parts of the world.
Participating in the festival are the young beneficiaries and professionals of 6 social circuses from Italy, Afghanistan, Kenya, Brazil, Spain and Lebanon/Palestine. The youngsters are involved in shared workshops that culminate with a performance of the collective.
