THE PROJECT IN SUMMARY
Support for the staging of the theatrical and musical production “Ostinati e Contrari” with psychophysically impaired people.
THE PROJECT IN DETAIL
Objectives
Staging a theatrical and musical production to modify the stigma associated with psychophysical impairment and generate a cultural change concerning ideas about diversity.
Beneficiairies
A disparate group of people made up of disabled, volunteers, technicians and professionals. In particular, 20 psychophysically impaired people between the ages of 18 and 30 sent to Stravaganza from a Day Center for the Disabled, social cooperatives and Services for Autonomy of Milan.
Activities
In 2012 Alta Mane Italia supported the staging of a theatrical-musical production entitled Ostinati e Contrari – La profezia delle onde (literally Obstinate and Contrary – A Prophecy from the Waves) in an unreleased version that was performed at the Valle Occupato Theater in Rome on April 1, 2012. To stage the show a disparate group from Stravaganza was involved in two weekly workshops, one for physical expression and the other for voice. Various professionals were involved: psychotherapists and educators, art-therapists and professional artists from theater, dance and music. The working methodology, which has evolved from psychoanalysis, art-therapy, theater-therapy and music-therapy, envisages improvisation linked with staging and everybody participating at the same level – the disabled and their families, technicians, volunteers, professional musicians and actors – in a process of integration and exchange that deeply enriches the entire group.
