Musical training with the creation of a modular multi-ethnic orchestra.
THE PROJECT IN DETAIL
Objectives
Promotion of the social inclusion of native and migrant youths in Palermo at risk of social marginalization.
Beneficiairies
Approximately 20 youths from two youth centers in poor neighborhoods of Palermo, with particular attention to migrant youths.
Activities
The project aims to involve teenagers and the children of migrants in Palermo who come from two Youth Centers (TAU Center and No Colors) located in poor neighborhoods in the historic center and the Zisa/Danisinni area to reinforce their cultural identity and promote cultural reciprocity and mingling to render natural and creative their co-existence. The activities of the project, which involve afternoon meetings and intensive workshops during the week-ends, result in the creation of an orchestra through the practice of the fundamental elements of music (rhythm, tone, timber, dynamics, voice) and training in the use of modern and traditional musical instruments, as well as instruments built with simple materials.
The project aims to develop the natural musical inclination of the children involved, and prior interests, to promote harmonious personal development, which they then apply to their peers to stimulate them to become more attuned to art, culture and ethnic diversity.
