THE PROJECT IN DETAIL
Meeting and comparison of the different artistic and social experiences of Fekat Circus and Slum Drummers, exchange of their relative short and long-term prospects for autonomy and sustainability.
7 members of Fekat Circus (Addis Ababa) and 7 members of the CBO Slum Drummers (Nairobi).
Final beneficiaries: all the members of Fekat Circus (15) and the CBO Slum Drummers (13).
The program foresees a ten day, reciprocal visit to the project sites on the part of 7 members (of 15) of Fekat circus and 7 members (of 13) of the CBO Slum Drummers. During the visits, joint artistic workshops will be held as well as an event for the community in order to actively involve the guests in the activities carried out on site.
The project will be carried out in two phases:
– Phase 1: Slum Drummers in Ethiopia, from 13-23 October 2014;
– Phase 2: Fekat Circus in Kenya, from 13-23 November 2014.
During the visits, each group will present the guests its project activities (see “The Smile’s Medicine Project” and “OurDreams by ourDrums project” carried out by GRT), highlighting the various origins, experiences, approaches and methodologies, and provide onsite visits as well as realize joint performances with a view to reciprocal knowledge and the exchange of best practices.
