Realization of artistic workshops held by renown contemporary artists for children and youth with serious pathologies during the Rome City Camp, held in June and July, 2022.
THE PROJECT IN DETAIL
Objectives
To contribute to the improvement of the conditions of children and youth with serious and chronic illness and disabilities and/or living in grave situations of socio-economic marginalization, between the ages of 6 and 17, in the Roman territory; to allow children suffering from serious pathologies to encounter art according to Dynamo Recreational Therapy and the activities of the Art Factory.
Beneficiairies
30 children and youth with serious pathologies and disabilities, along with their healthy brothers and sisters, and children and youth living in grave situations of socio-economic disadvantage between the ages of 6 and 17.
Activities
The project foresees carrying out Art Factory activities as a part of the Rome City Camp, which is held at the Luiss from June 13 to July 29, 2022.
During the 8 weeks the Camp is open, children and youth take part in a wide programme of Recreational Therapy. The sessions are held mornings and afternoons from Monday to Friday. The participants are divided into small groups in separate rooms, each dedicated to an activity/workshop. Among the activities proposed (radio, musical theatre, YouTubing, photography), an important activity will be the artistic workshops led by renown artists during specific weeks for activities concerning artistic projects realized with the fundamental presence of the children at the City Camp.
Preparatory activities at the City Camp include the selection and training of new volunteers who will support the young beneficiaries during the activities and workshops organized during the sessions of Recreational Therapy in Rome.
AMI, in partnership with AMG, supported the Art Factory from 2016 to 2019 (see project). In 2018 and 2019, AMI and AMG supported the dissemination of the Art Factory experience in major museums of contemporary art in 8 Italian cities (Bologna, Genoa, Milan, Naples, Rome, Rovereto, Turin and Florence).
