Instituting workshops to produce animated cartoons for the children who are patients in the pediatric ward of the Giovanni XXIII hospital in Bergamo
THE PROJECT IN DETAIL
Objectives
To prevent and soften the devastating effects illness and hospitalization can inflict by transforming that space and time into an occasion for discovery and self expression via creative workshops;
To expand the AVISCO model with a CIC project at the Papa Giovanni XXIII hospital in Bergamo
Beneficiairies
Approximately 23 children who are patients in the pediatric surgery and transplants ward of the Giovanni XXIII Hospital in Bergamo.
Activities
The project proposes the realization of individual and small group workshops for the production (twice a week for two hours; 27 meetings for a total of 54 hours) and post-production (between September and November) of animated shorts for the children who are patients in the pediatric cancer ward and pediatric surgery and transplants ward of the Giovanni XXIII hospital in Bergamo. The project is part of a wider project presented for Bergamo-Brescia Capital of Culture 2023, which aims to create a “Luminous bridge” between Bergamo and Brescia solidly supported by a decade of experience in Brescia undertaken at the Children’s Hospital in Brescia with the Cartoni Animati in Corsia (CIC, animated cartoons in the ward) project supported by AMI from 2012 to 2018. The experience gained from this project has been inserted in the Dossier entitled “La città illuminata” (the illuminated city) in order for Brescia to reach out to Bergamo and also involve the pediatric wards at the Giovanni XXIII hospital during the Year of Culture 2023
