THE PROJECT IN DETAIL
Objectives
Enabling an exchange of knowledge, experience, strategies and activities to reinforce and improve Prometeo’s “Proyecto Gulliver” and the “Art in the Sun and Wind” workshops of Vientos Culturales.
Beneficiairies
4 educators, two each from Vientos Culturales and Prometeo, as well as all the children and youths benefiting from the activities of these two organizations.
Activities
During the months of August and September 2016, an exchange will take place for the professionals of Vientos Culturales and Prometeo, AMI partner associations that offer artistic workshops in the marginalized communities of the cities in which they operate: Tuxtla Gutierrez in Mexico and Medellin in Colombia.
This exchange was conceived during the participation of the President of Vientos Culturales at the XXV Poetry Festival in Medellin in 2015 with the support of AMI – an opportunity which enabled a first-hand look at the work being done by Prometeo.
Two visits of 12 days each are foreseen for the exchange, first for the professionals of Prometeo in Mexico (August 2016) and then for those of Vientos Culturales in Colombia (September 2016).
During the visits, the professionals will be able to participate in the ordinary activities of the hosting association and thus observe and learn new methodologies and group management techniques, as well as acquire new instruments that can help stimulate the imagination in their own work.
Two days are dedicated to becoming familiar with other associations working in the area, such as Proyecto Faro in Mexico City, which is an important network of cultural centres supported by the city Cultural Secretary, offering high quality cultural and informal educational opportunities in the outskirts of the city.
These meetings and exchanges of experience promote professionalism and the personal growth of the participants, enriching the methodologies and activities of both organizations, thus benefiting the children they serve.
